As of April 8, 2025, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), through the Disaster Response Management Group (DRMG), has successfully delivered 14 out of the 15 procured Mobile Kitchens to various Field Offices (FOs). This initiative, carried out through the close coordination and joint efforts of the Administrative Service – General Services Division (AS-GSD) and the concerned Field Offices, enhances the Department’s capacity to provide immediate food assistance during disaster response operations.

Consequently, Field Office VIII is scheduled to pick up its Mobile Kitchen on April 22, 2025, which will mark the completion of the deployment of all 15 procured units to DSWD Field Offices.

The deployment of these Mobile Kitchens represents a key step in strengthening DSWD’s emergency response capabilities. These specialized units serve as mobile food preparation and distribution hubs, ensuring that hot, nutritious meals reach displaced families in disaster-stricken areas.

In parallel, the initiative also supports the establishment and training of DSWD Quick Response Teams (QRTs) within local government units, thereby decentralizing and accelerating emergency response operations.

Subsequent to the deployment of the Mobile Kitchen Units, a series of technical assistance will be provided for Field Offices. This will include orientation on unit operation and capabilities as well as guidance on effective management strategies.

Furthermore, the procurement of DSWD Disaster Response Vehicles and Equipment, including Mobile Kitchens, Delivery Trucks, Forklifts, Mobile Water Treatment and Water Tank Trucks, will significantly enhance the Buong Bansa Handa Project’s logistical preparedness capacities, ensuring rapid and productive relief distribution to affected communities. Additionally, it will support the Walang Gutom Program in addressing food insecurity among vulnerable populations.
