The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) through its Disaster Response Management Bureau (DRMB) has significantly augmented the disaster risk reduction and management (DRRM) capabilities of DSWD Field Office MIMAROPA through the provision of Camp Coordination and Camp Management and Internally Displaced Persons’ Protection (CCCM and IDPP) Training of Trainers on May 26-30, 2025. This strategic support underscores the Bureau’s commitment to strengthening the operational readiness of regional offices in disaster response.
The specialized training on CCCM and IDPP equipped participants with advanced knowledge and skills in managing evacuation centers effectively. By adopting a “Training of Trainers” approach, the DRMB empowered Field Office MIMAROPA to develop a pool of local experts capable of cascading CCCM principles and best practices to other frontline responders, thereby ensuring the efficient and standardized provision of services to internally displaced persons (IDPs).

This initiative is aligned with the directive of the President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.’s broader strategy of fostering a more robust and responsive disaster management system nationwide, and also integral with the instruction of Secretary Rex Gatchalian to foster trained and deployable Quick Response Teams and DRRM responders to enhance the capacities of Field Offices and local government units to prepare for, respond to, and recover from various disaster events, ultimately benefiting the vulnerable populations in the region.
The DSWD remains steadfast in its mandate to protect and uplift the welfare of Filipinos, particularly in times of crisis, through continuous capacity building and inter-agency collaboration.
