Zamboanga City – The DSWD Field Office XII together with Undersecretary Alan A. Tanjusay and Assistant Secretary Arnel B. Garcia, conducted the reengagement activity for the decommissioned combatants (DCs) of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) in Al-Barka, Basilan.
This is part of the continuous interventions of the department for the DCs which is anchored on the government’s commitment in attaining the peace and development gains under the Annex on Normalization of the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB).
DSWD FO XII in coordination and support of DSWD FO IX, the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU), local government units (LGUs) and the joint Coordinating Committee on the Cessation of Hostilities (CCCH) of the government of the Philippines and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) shall conduct five (5) batches of Reengagement Activities for the DCs from Phases I to III. “Kamustahan” or home visitation shall be the main strategic focus in reaching out to the DCs in their respective families and communities covering the areas of Regions IX, X, XI, XII, Caraga and BARMM. The reengagement activity include aftercare visits, post monitoring on the use of the Bangsamoro Transitory Family Support Package (BTFSP) and Livelihood Settlement Grant (LSG) amounting to P100,000.00, and case management of the DCs and their families. This shall serve as a way of keeping track of the status of the DCs and their families in their transitioning to civilian lives and integration with their respective communities.
