LOOK: The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), headed by Sec. Rolando Bautista, together with the Cabinet Secretaries and Executive Officials of the NDRRMC, participated today in the Magnitude 7.2 Earthquake Response Simulation Exercise at the NDRRMC Operation Center, Camp Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo, Quezon City.
The general exercise scenario was occurrence of the magnitude 7.2 earthquake with Intensity VIII due to the movement of the West Valley Fault. It affected three regions: National Capital Region, CALABARZON, and Central Luzon.
The objective of the simulation exercise is to demonstrate the unified decision-making and coordination of top government officials in the occurrence of major disasters. This operations-based type exercise was designed to evaluate the capabilities and multiple functions using a stimulated response. Players are situated in the NDRRMC Emergency Operations Center (EOC) to simulate multi-agency coordination for a national-level government response.
